Family Dynamics and Communication Styles

  • Friday, June 24, 2016
  • 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Dispute Resolution Center, 5407 North IH35, Suite 410, Austin

Diane Harvey, LCSW, Clinical Social Worker and Mediator, will share her insights into special considerations for family mediations.  Families are as individual as the people in them, with their own structures and rhythms.  Many influences on them can affect communication patterns and abilities to deal with conflict.  In this workshop, we’ll explore the many styles of families (including cultural and regional differences) and how to identify and work with differences.

A clinical social worker in a variety of settings for about 35 years, Diane Harvey has maintained a private therapy practice since 1995, working with individuals and families.  She added mediation to her practice in 1999, often combining skills from each discipline while working in high-conflict situations. She has been a board member (and past President) of Austin Association of Mediators since 2003, was the TMCA representative to TAM from 2007-2011, is actively involved with the Austin DRC as a mediator and coach, and is a TMCA Credentialed Mediator.

The meeting will begin at 11:30 am for networking and the one-hour presentation will begin at 12:00. One (1.0) hours of CE credit is available to attendees.

This event is free of charge to all interested people, with a light lunch provided. For non-AAM members, a $5 donation for lunch is suggested.

We look forward to seeing you there!
